12月3日は国際障害者の日です。この記念すべき日に、日本のCILがアジア・中南米・アフリカでのCIL設立・支援をしてきたことを称え、アメリカのCILアクセスリビングからWIN（世界のCILネットワーク）に対して「グローバル・パートナーシップ賞」が贈られました。日本を代表してJIL代表の平下さん（夢宙センター）がスカイプ越しにスピーチし、現地でインターン中のノアこと大橋さんが盾を受け取りました。2016年に来日し、夢宙センターでおもてなしを受けた副代表のデイジーさんが、改めて日本の障害者リーダーが行ってきた貢献をアクセスリビングのみんなに説明。平下代表からは、日米の関係強化に大きく寄与し、コスタリカにも来てくれたアクセスリビング代表のマーカ、来日してくれた副代表のデイジー、そして日本のユースをいつもエンパワメントしてくれるアンバーの名前を挙げながら、感謝の気持ちと、これからも世界のIL運動のために日米関係を強化していこう、というスピーチがありました。2014年から数えて5年目。日米の相互訪問を通じて、ILを通じた障害者のつながりが強まっています。WINは、ILに出会うことを、同じ思いを持つ仲間との出会いを待っているひとりひとりの仲間のために、これからも力をあわせて活動を進めていきます。Lead on!

Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities! Today became a big day to us as Access Living presented a “Global Partnership Award” to WIN for having contributed to the establishment and development of CILs in Asia, Central and South America, and Africa. Kozo Hirashita, President of the JIL (Japan Council for Independent Living Centers) delivered a short speech, while Noah accepted the award in person. Kozo expressed his deep gratitude especially to Marca Bristo, President& CEO, who have first contributed to build a friendship between U.S. and Japan, to Daisy Feidt, Vice President, who have then strengthened our friendship through her visit to Japan, and finally to Amber Smock, who have been always there to empower Japanese youth with disabilities.
It has been 5 years since Satoshi Sato, Director General of DPI Japan, took an initiative to start a dialogue with American leaders with disabilities in 2014 for the Global IL Movement. Today we have witnessed our bonding getting stronger and stronger through our continuous exchange. We, members of WIN, will continue our collective efforts for every single person in this world, who is waiting for us to touch their lives through the philosophy and practice of IL. Lead on!
